Paramedic Field Training Officer - ProMedica Transportation Network

The FTO provides safe, quality care to ill or injured patients in pre-hospital or inter-hospital settings. Operates and maintains PTN vehicles in safe and ready condition. Serves as an instructor and evaluator of assigned staff during field and classroom activities. Function as a role model, demonstrate leadership skills and an elevated level of clinical competence.

 ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Staffs an ambulance and practices within the scope of practice for appropriate state certification.
2. Demonstrates appropriate assessment skills in following established patient care protocols and collaborates with other team members.
3. Provide a safe, therapeutic, and efficient patient care environment through collaboration with other disciplines.
4. Supports and adheres to State of Ohio, Michigan, ProMedica Health System, and PTN policies and procedures.
5. Identify clinical area deficiencies with new/current personnel and assist with developing modalities to facilitate improvement.
6. Assist the Educators with new employee orientation, skill evaluations, continuing education classes and departmental training exercises.
7. Assist with peer chart reviews for Continuous Quality Improvement.
8. Attend and participate in Field Training Officer, Educator and QA meetings.
9. Maintain PTN vehicles in a constant state of readiness and cleanliness. Document check of assigned PTN vehicles and equipment each shift.
10. Perform related work as required by the position.

Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be a certified EMT-Paramedic in the state of Ohio. Michigan licensure acquired within thirty (30) days of hire.

Skills: Must maintain current knowledge in area of expertise through self-directed education and participation in formal and continuing education. Must maintain specialty certification and/or credentials. Must have excellent communication, organizational and writing skills.

Years of Experience: Five (5) years’ experience as an EMS Provider.

License: State of Ohio Paramedic, State of Michigan Paramedic.

Certification: Level I EMS state of Ohio instructor or must actively work to obtain within six (6) months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: One (1) year of teaching experience. One year as a PTN Paramedic.
